The Lego Ninjago Movie: Go Go Ninjago!!!!

SO I went a few weeks back but I have been so busy that I haven't had time but I'm sure you've been waiting with bated breath for my review right? right? Anyway let's talk Lego!!!

SUMMARY TIME: Lloyd Garmadon (Dave Franco) is an ordinary boy except his dad is a supervillain desperate to destroy his home and people hate him for it. Also Lloyd is part of an elite group of ninjas who with mechs protect the city from Garmadon's wrath. Garmadon (Justin Theorux) however takes it too far and soon Lloyd makes a terrible mistake that jeopardises the whole of Ninjago.

Right off the bat this movie fits in with the other Lego movies so damn well you could say it all clicks together (I'm hilarious!). It's also essential to say that what Ninjago is is Lego's own brand of Power Rangers. As in its a bunch of kids with attitude who have access to mechs, powers and for some inexplicable reason have to save the day from an actual adult villain. That isn't a ding against it at all thats what made it so loveable but it really is Lego's Power Rangers movie.

Anyway the films theme really is about reconcilliation and family. It's all about seeing people differently and honestly it achieves this without being AfterSchool special-y in the slightest.  In fact thats what pulls it away from being just standard kids half term fare. It has a real beating heart too it. One that shows that things go wrong just like real life.

Real props have to go to the design as well. Having as lego world getting invaded by a real life cat was a master stroke and the way it seemlessly interacted with the world was truly brilliant. Honestly the moments it weaved through the world as action was happening around it were incredible and I'd love to know how they accomplished it.

As usual with lego movies the soundtrack is killing it. Real classics shoudl be It's Garmadon which is so damn funny I've lost it listening to it about 8 times and Heroes which is the like the Power Rangers theme of your dreams. Also Operation New Me is a pop punk banger and I will hear no differently.

Franco and Theroux are fantastic in this film and bonus Jackie Chan is always a plus! However this is Theroux;s film everyone else is just taking up space. Garmadon is a far better and more fun villain than Lord Business of the Lego Movie. Seriously one of the best voice acted characters of the year.

Once again Lego hits it out of the park. This one may become the underrated masterpiece of the lego world and it should. Especially for Meowthra who was perfect in every way. If you need a fun movie to go see this half term make it Lego Ninjago. You won't regret it!

  1. This seems to be a nice movie. I will watch it once I finish watching series by Andy Yeatman on Netflix. It was a great time coming across this post because I need something new and interesting to watch now. It is because I will finish watching good shows on Netflix now.
